Shuffleboard Rules: Horse Collar

**Please note the two new rule changes below**

1.  If a team is late more than five minutes, the opposing team will earn 1 point for each minute late starting after the five minute window (ex. Game time is 6:00pm and team B does not arrive and begin play until 6:09pm, then team A will start game with 4 points).

2.  At least two team members must be present during each playoff game or a forfeit will be awarded to the opposing team.

*The objective of the game is to slide, by hand, all four of one's weights alternately against those of an opponent, so that they reach the highest scoring area without falling off the end of the board into the alley. A player's weights must be farther down the board than his/her opponent's weights, in order to be in scoring position. This may be achieved either by knocking off the opponent's weight(s), or by outdistancing them.

***Remember, this is all for charity and beers, so no getting your panties in a twist***

-Games will be played for a total of 25 minutes (unless team is late, making game start late). Whoever scores closest to or exceeds 21 points in the given time frame will be the winner of the match.

-Teammates stand on opposite ends of the table. Opponents alternate sliding pucks (1 team is blue, 1 team is red).

-Teams will play a quick, competitive “Rock, Paper, Scissor” match to determine who slides first.

-The team who slides the puck the furthest down the table without it going off the edge wins the round. *The furthest color weights score. Ex. Red has two pucks farther than blue, red scores with those two pucks only.

-If a puck is on a line (in between points), the player will receive the lower point value. If more than ¾ of the puck is over the line, the player will receive the higher point value. If it is debatable, a referee will be called in.

-After debates / arguments are solved, all members on the table will cheers, drink & be merry!

-If the puck does not pass the “foul line” (the line just past the center of the board), it should be removed from the board before the next puck is thrown.

-The point values go as follows: 1 point for zone 1 (furthest zone from the edge), 2 points for “The Deuce” (middle zone), and 3 points for “The Trey” (The closest zone to the edge). If the puck is hanging off the edge of the table, you are the fucking man/woman! 4 Points for you…

-Team who scores the points in the previous round goes first.

-Any plays or rules that are in question should be brought to our attention and it will be dealt with appropriately.

*The number of points you score will come into use if there is a tiebreaker situation at the end of the regulation season. If two teams have an identical record, the team who scored more points throughout the season will advance. The top 8 teams will make it to the playoffs. Playoffs will be held on the same day as the Championship.

*Champion of the Portsmouth Brewery Shuffleboard League will receive their name and on the plaque displayed in the Brewery Basement.
